A longitudinal examination of executive function abilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and puberty in adolescence
This 3-year longitudinal study tracked 99 adolescents (ages 8-19) to examine how age, puberty levels, and ADHD symptoms relate to executive function development. Results showed that older adolescents with advanced pubertal development had lower executive function, and that earlier executive function deficits predicted later ADHD burden but not vice versa.
