Non-Suicidal Self-Injury and Exercise: Associations With Addictive Disorders in Korean Adults

This epidemiological study of 5,511 Korean adults found that non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) was the strongest predictor of addictive disorders (alcohol, tobacco, internet gaming), with over 9-fold increased risk. Interestingly, while regular walking was protective, moderate-to-high exercise was associated with increased addiction risk, suggesting complex relationships between behavioral patterns and addictive disorders.

Substance use patterns among individuals with problematic pornography use: A scoping review

This scoping review examined associations between substance use and problematic pornography use (PPU) across 8 cross-sectional studies, finding positive correlations between PPU and alcohol, cocaine, and smoking, though results were inconsistent across studies. The review highlights significant heterogeneity in how PPU is operationalized and calls for standardized definitions and further research on this potential comorbidity.
