Voxel-based dysconnectomic brain morphometry with computed tomography in Down syndrome
This cross-sectional study analyzed CT scans from 98 adults with Down syndrome using automated voxel-based morphometry to identify brain volume changes associated with dementia severity and Alzheimer's disease biomarkers. Results showed negative correlations between dementia stage and gray/white matter volumes in temporal lobe regions, with dysconnectomic patterns linking white matter loss to hippocampal atrophy, providing a faster neuroimaging alternative to MRI for this population.
