Serum Ferritin and Zinc Levels in Children with ADHD: A Case-Control Study from Iraq
This case-control study compared serum ferritin and zinc levels in 66 newly diagnosed, treatment-naive children with ADHD versus 110 healthy controls from Iraq, finding significantly lower levels of both micronutrients in the ADHD group and strong correlation with symptom severity. Low zinc and ferritin were associated with specific ADHD presentations, suggesting potential role of these micronutrients in ADHD pathophysiology, though the study does not establish causation or treatment implications.
