Personality and impulsivity traits associated with problematic online gaming and poker playing

This study examined how personality dimensions and impulsivity traits relate to problematic internet usage among 1,144 online MMORPG and poker players using validated psychological instruments. Neuroticism, negative urgency, positive urgency, and sensation seeking were significantly associated with higher addiction scores, while extraversion showed a protective effect, with similar patterns observed across both gaming groups.
