Association of Bisphenol A with Cognitive Functions and Functionality in Adult ADHD

This study examined serum bisphenol A (BPA) levels in 45 adults with ADHD versus 45 healthy controls, using standardized cognitive tests and disability assessments. Results showed higher BPA in ADHD patients and an association with work-related dysfunction, though no direct correlation with cognitive test performance was found.

Impaired monoamine neural system in the mPFC of SHRSP/Ezo as an animal model of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

This study examined how monoamine reuptake inhibitors affect long-term potentiation and neurotransmitter release in the prefrontal cortex of SHRSP/Ezo rats, an ADHD animal model. Results indicate that dopamine and noradrenaline system dysfunction in the frontal lobe contributes to ADHD pathology, with methylphenidate and desipramine showing potential to improve impaired synaptic plasticity.

Healthcare Service Use Before ADHD Diagnosis: Population-Based Case-Control Study

This population-based study compared healthcare service utilization in 8,127 children/young people with ADHD and 40,136 matched controls using English primary care records (1998-2015), finding that those later diagnosed with ADHD attended healthcare services twice as frequently in the 2 years before diagnosis. ADHD cases showed strongest associations with mental/behavioral disorder visits (25-fold higher) but also elevated attendance for common conditions like ENT issues, asthma, and eczema.

Parent Knowledge and Behavioral Attributions as Predictors of Help-Seeking for Children with ADHD

This study examined how parent knowledge of ADHD and their interpretations of child behavior influence interest in various support services following ADHD evaluation. Results showed that greater ADHD knowledge, beliefs that symptoms persist over time, and lower perceived child behavioral control predicted stronger interest in different types of help-seeking, suggesting tailored education may improve service utilization.

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder is associated with disordered eating in adolescents

This cross-sectional study of 4,616 Israeli adolescents found that those with ADHD diagnoses had significantly higher prevalence of disordered eating compared to non-ADHD peers (50.2% vs. 43.9%), with the association remaining significant after controlling for confounders. The relationship between ADHD and disordered eating persisted regardless of stimulant medication status, highlighting the need for early identification of eating concerns in adolescents with ADHD.

Driving Abilities, Executive Functions, and Adaptive Behavior in Adolescents with Complex ADHD

This cross-sectional study compared driving simulator performance, executive functions, and adaptive behavior in 30 adolescents with complex ADHD (ADHD with emotional/learning difficulties) and 33 without ADHD, finding that those without ADHD demonstrated significantly better driving performance. Executive functions were found to partially correlate with driving simulator scores in the complex ADHD group, suggesting the need for targeted intervention programs.

Longitudinal relationship between oppositional defiant disorder and ADHD symptoms in Chinese children: cross-lagged panel network analysis

This longitudinal study tracked 263 Chinese children aged 6-13 with ODD and/or ADHD over one year using network analysis to examine how symptoms of these conditions relate over time. The research found stable symptom networks across both time points, with specific symptoms like difficulty concentrating and impulsivity showing high centrality in predicting comorbidity patterns.
