Validation of the German Parent-Report Anxiety Scale for Autistic Children: Addressing Diagnostic Overlap and Autism-Specific Anxiety Patterns

This validation study examined the German version of the Anxiety Scale for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder-Parent Version (ASC-ASD-P) in 317 youth at an autism clinic, including 120 autistic children, demonstrating excellent internal consistency and convergent validity with established behavioral measures. Autistic youth showed higher anxiety and uncertainty scores than non-autistic peers, confirming the scale's sensitivity to autism-specific anxiety presentations, though some subscales require refinement for broader applicability across the autism spectrum.

Rosiglitazone as Adjunct to Risperidone for Irritability in Autistic Children: A Randomized Controlled Trial

This double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (n=70) evaluated rosiglitazone, an anti-diabetic agent with neuroprotective properties, combined with risperidone for reducing irritability in autistic children over 10 weeks. Rosiglitazone showed modest but statistically significant benefits for irritability symptoms with good tolerability, though results were limited by small sample size and short study duration.

Agomelatine versus escitalopram for depression in people with epilepsy: A randomized controlled trial

This double-blind randomized trial compared agomelatine and escitalopram in 51 people with epilepsy and major depressive disorder, evaluating effects on depression, seizure frequency, sleep, cognition, and quality of life. Both medications improved depression similarly with minimal adverse events; escitalopram showed greater quality-of-life improvement while agomelatine showed better verbal memory outcomes, with no significant effects on seizure frequency in either group.

Systematic Curation of Genetic Variants Associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder Using the EAGLE Framework

This study applied the Evaluation of Autism Gene Link Evidence (EAGLE) framework to systematically curate 222 genes associated with neurodevelopmental disorders, identifying 78 with definitive evidence for autism association, 43 with moderate evidence, and 99 with limited evidence. The analysis revealed differential expression and enrichment patterns at brain and cellular levels, establishing biological relevance for distinguishing autism-specific genetic associations from broader neurodevelopmental disorder phenotypes.
