Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus Associated with Increased Risk of Depression and Anxiety Diagnoses
A large database study found that vulvar lichen sclerosus (a chronic skin condition causing intense itching) is associated with significantly higher rates of depression, anxiety disorder, and major depressive disorder diagnoses compared to non-vulvar lichen sclerosus. Early treatment of vulvar lichen sclerosus was associated with reduced risk of these psychiatric conditions.
