Autism Spectrum Disorder Among Gender-Diverse Children and Adolescents: A National Cohort Study

This national cohort study of 786 transgender and gender-diverse youth found ASD present in 9.7% of cases, with autistic patients showing distinct profiles including higher socioeconomic status, intellectual giftedness, and non-binary identity. Autistic assigned-female-at-birth adolescents were significantly less likely to access puberty suppression and gender-affirming hormones compared to non-autistic peers, highlighting important disparities in gender-affirming care access.
