Cognitive functioning in adults with autism spectrum disorder

This cross-sectional study examined intellectual and neuropsychological profiles in 40 adults with ASD using standardized assessment tools, finding lower IQ scores across most cognitive domains compared to the general population, though mean scores remained in the normal range. Performance patterns included relative strengths in verbal over non-verbal knowledge and significant differences in fluid reasoning, working memory, and visual-spatial processing.
