Forensic Psychiatric Assessment in Autism Spectrum Disorder: Clinical Experience from a Turkish Forensic Psychiatry Inpatient Service

This retrospective study examined criminal responsibility assessments for individuals with ASD evaluated at Turkey's official forensic medicine institution between 2018-2022, finding that reduced/removed criminal responsibility cases had mean age 22.9 years and mean IQ 76.63. Results showed intentional injury was the most common offense, typically impulsive acts often targeting relatives, with notable differences in forensic presentations between individuals with standard ASD versus high-functioning ASD.
