Affective Dynamics and Emotional Reactivity in Social Anxiety Disorder
This study used Ecological Momentary Assessment to examine mood patterns in 236 adults with social anxiety disorder (SAD), other anxiety disorders, and controls across two weeks of daily life. People with SAD showed elevated baseline anxiety and sadness, greater mood improvements after positive events, and heightened anxiety responses to negative non-social events, suggesting emotional reactivity extends beyond social situations.
