Oxytocin and Autism: A Precision Medicine Framework for Therapeutic Research

This review examines oxytocin's role in autism based on biomarker, genetic, and neuroimaging evidence, while critically noting that intranasal oxytocin has not demonstrated consistent clinical benefits despite decades of study. The authors propose a precision medicine framework incorporating participant stratification, improved trial designs, objective measures, and novel administration methods to better evaluate oxytocin's therapeutic potential for ASD.
