Autistic Symptoms in Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders: Cognitive, Social, and Treatment Correlates

This narrative review examines the relationship between autistic symptoms and schizophrenia spectrum disorder (SSD), including shared genetic and neurobiological features, and their impact on cognitive function, social outcomes, and treatment response. Findings suggest autistic symptoms in SSD are associated with cognitive deficits and social impairment, potentially representing distinct clinical subtypes requiring further investigation.
