This review consolidates available animal models used in ADHD research and evaluates their scientific validity, addressing the lack of standardization that has slowed progress in understanding the disorder's neuronal and molecular mechanisms. The authors emphasize that multiple models across different species are necessary to comprehensively study ADHD's various subtypes, comorbidities, and current or novel pharmacological treatments.
