Role of the retinoid X receptor-PPAR-γ axis in adolescent ADHD

This case-control study of 104 adolescents with ADHD and 87 controls found significantly reduced peripheral RXR-α levels in the ADHD group, independent of medication status, with RXR-α negatively associated with reaction time variability. The findings suggest potential involvement of the RXR-PPAR-γ nuclear receptor pathway in ADHD-related cognitive impairments, though the authors acknowledge this as an initial demonstration requiring further investigation.
