Prevalence of Self-Reported ADHD Diagnoses among U.S. Post-secondary Students: A Narrative Review

This narrative review examined 15 empirical studies (2008–2023) reporting ADHD prevalence among U.S. college students, finding estimates ranging from 3.4% to 11.2% (overall 9.1%), with higher rates (14–15%) in recent multi-institutional surveys reflecting increases since 2019–2020. The review highlights methodological variability across studies and suggests rising prevalence trends may indicate a need for strengthened ADHD services on campuses.
