Editorial: Genetic Predisposition to ADHD and Risk of Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties

This editorial reviews epidemiological evidence showing individuals with ADHD face elevated risks for suicidal behavior, substance misuse, educational underachievement, and comorbid psychiatric disorders including depression and anxiety. A study by Alemany et al. found that genetic risk for ADHD was more strongly associated with childhood emotional and behavioral difficulties than genetic risks for other conditions.
