Meta-analysis of White Matter and Gray Matter Abnormalities in Autism Spectrum Disorder

A comprehensive meta-analysis of 24 diffusion tensor imaging and 44 morphometry studies identified specific white matter microstructure alterations in ASD, including changes in the corpus callosum, thalamic projections, and cerebellar structures. The analysis also found age-related differences in gray matter volume across multiple brain regions, revealing variable neurobiological patterns associated with autism.
