Evaluating Three Screening Measures to Support Adult Autism Diagnostic Decision-Making

A retrospective analysis of 422 adult referrals to a UK autism diagnostic service examined three screening tools (AQ, EQ, CAST-RQ) and found that meeting cutoffs on all three measures predicted an autism diagnosis with 98.3% likelihood. The findings suggest that triaging patients who screen positive on all measures could streamline assessment pathways and reduce wait times while maintaining diagnostic accuracy.
