Identifying Core Joint Attention Behaviors and Their Network Associations with Autistic Traits in School-Aged Children with ASD
This network analysis study of 183 children with ASD identified central joint attention behaviors (helping others, hyperfocus, shared positive recall) and found that imitation and social relating were negatively associated with joint attention difficulties. The findings suggest imitation may be an important intervention target to improve social communication outcomes in autistic children.
