Eating Disorders and Autistic Traits Camouflaging: Insights from the EAT Study

This study examined the prevalence of autistic traits in 131 individuals with feeding and eating disorders, finding 16% met clinical cutoffs for high autistic traits and 25% engaged in significant camouflaging behaviors. Autistic traits were associated with eating disorder severity and psychological maladjustment, with camouflaging and eating disorder symptoms functioning as parallel mediators of this relationship.
