A 59-year-old woman with high cervical spinal cord injury (C5 complete) experienced relief from hypotensive symptoms including lightheadedness and syncope when using an implanted multichannel neuroprosthesis that electrically stimulates lumbar and pelvic muscles for trunk stabilization. Laboratory testing confirmed stable blood pressure increases during use of the device for seated activities, suggesting peripheral nerve stimulation may address autonomic dysfunction and orthostatic intolerance following spinal cord injury.
