Predictors of Futile Recanalization after Mechanical Thrombectomy for Middle Cerebral Artery M2 Occlusion

This retrospective study identified clinical predictors of poor functional outcomes despite successful reperfusion in acute ischemic stroke patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy for MCA M2 occlusions. Baseline stroke severity (NIHSS score) emerged as an independent predictor of futile recanalization, with higher initial scores associated with worse outcomes despite successful vessel reopening.
