Keratoconus in Down syndrome: Prevalence, risk factors, severity and corneal tomographic characteristics
This prospective observational study examined keratoconus prevalence and corneal characteristics in 190 participants with Down syndrome aged ≥10 years using advanced corneal imaging. Keratoconus was diagnosed in 26.3% of participants, with eye rubbing identified as a significant risk factor; corneal tomography alone identified 26.9% with keratoconus, 36.6% with suspect keratoconus, and 36.6% without keratoconus.
