Prevalence and Burden of Generalized Anxiety Disorder in the U.S. Healthcare System (2020-2023)

This study analyzed healthcare claims data from 2020-2023 to estimate GAD prevalence and incidence in U.S. adults, finding annual prevalence increased from 5.4% to 6.6% with women diagnosed at twice the rate of men. The findings suggest increasing GAD diagnoses may reflect better screening and recognition, underscoring the need for expanded treatment access.
