Epidemiology of pediatric spinal trauma with neurological deficits in Catalonia: a 36-year experience

A retrospective study of 249 children (mean age 13.9 years) with post-traumatic spinal cord injury admitted to a Catalan hospital between 1986-2022, documenting fracture types, locations, associated injuries, and neurological status using standardized assessment scales. Findings showed 82% had vertebral fractures, 43.4% had multilevel injuries, and 45% had associated injuries to limbs, thorax, abdomen or skull.
