Dermatologic and Dysmorphic Manifestations in Down Syndrome: A Comprehensive Assessment

StudiuSindrom DownÎncredere înaltă

This prospective cross-sectional study compared dermatological findings in 100 genetically confirmed individuals with Down syndrome (mean age 6.37 years) against age- and sex-matched controls, emphasizing that skin and physical manifestations are common but frequently underrecognized in this population. The research highlights the importance of incorporating routine dermatological evaluations into comprehensive healthcare monitoring for individuals with Down syndrome, particularly as life expectancy increases and delayed manifestations of various skin conditions become more apparent.
