Graves' disease in children with Down syndrome: Clinical features and treatment outcomes

A retrospective study of 13 children with Down syndrome who developed Graves' disease (8% of 161 GD cases) found typical hyperthyroid symptoms including weight loss and irritability, with treatment via antithyroid drugs (methimazole or carbimazole) for a mean of 43 months. Outcomes included remission in some patients, continued treatment in others, and successful surgical intervention in three cases without complications.
