Adherence to Adult Clinical Practice Guidelines for Down Syndrome: A Chart Review Study

A study of 327 adults with Down syndrome found mean adherence to nine evidence-based care guidelines was 67.3%, with notably low adherence rates for colonoscopy screening (42.9%), iron supplementation (41.9%), and audiology services (35.2%). The research identified significant healthcare disparities, including higher BMI and diabetes rates among Hispanic patients and differences in thyroid disease prevalence across racial groups, highlighting opportunities for improved clinical care delivery.
