This secondary analysis of three large cohorts examined social anxiety disorder prevalence and clinical outcomes in patients with major depressive disorder, finding that SAD comorbidity was associated with earlier depression onset and higher suicide risk across samples. After controlling for depression and anxiety severity, social anxiety remained linked to reduced treatment remission and increased suicidality in adults.
