Parental Experiences with Down Syndrome Screening and Diagnosis in the Netherlands (2005-2024)

This evidence-based study examined parental experiences with Down syndrome prenatal screening and diagnosis in the Netherlands over two decades, using surveys from the Dutch Down Syndrome Foundation. Findings revealed increasing screening uptake but declining parental satisfaction, with 39% of parents in 2024 reporting pressure to terminate pregnancy following prenatal diagnosis, and highlighted significant gaps in counseling quality across healthcare providers.
