Impact of Valproate Discontinuation on Seizure Control in Women of Reproductive Age

StudiuEpilepsieÎncredere bună

This retrospective study analyzed 69 women with epilepsy who were seizure-free on valproic acid, comparing outcomes in those who switched to alternative anti-seizure medications versus those who continued valproate. Switching resulted in seizure recurrence in 55.55% of patients at 12-month follow-up, while teratogenicity complications occurred in 5.88% of those continuing valproate at higher doses.
