Gaps in recovery priorities between individuals with spinal cord injury and healthcare professionals

A survey of 103 individuals with spinal cord injury and 85 healthcare professionals in Japan revealed significant misalignment in recovery priorities: SCI patients prioritized bladder and bowel function, while clinicians assumed patients prioritized blood pressure control, mental health, and motor function. The study highlights the need for better inclusion of autonomic function goals and enhanced clinician education to align treatment planning with patient values.
