Gambling disorder as a risk factor for suicidal ideation in medical students

This observational study of 775 French medical students found that 15.9% reported recent suicidal ideation, with students having probable gambling disorder showing significantly higher prevalence (34%) compared to those without gambling problems. The research identifies gambling disorder as an underexplored behavioral addiction contributing to suicide risk among medical students, alongside established factors like depression and burnout.
