This study examined cognitive and emotional empathy in 25 people with gambling disorder, comparing them to 25 recently detoxified individuals with alcohol use disorder and 25 healthy controls using standardized empathy measures. Results revealed that gambling disorder was associated with impaired cognitive empathy but intact emotional empathy, differing from the empathy profile observed in alcohol use disorder.
