Complications of Adenotonsillectomy Surgery in Pediatric Down Syndrome Patients: A Tertiary Center Analysis

This study compared surgical complications in children with Down syndrome versus healthy children undergoing adenoidectomy or adenotonsillectomy, finding that Down syndrome patients had significantly higher rates of postoperative ICU admission, Grisel syndrome, and longer hospital stays. The research demonstrates that ICU management requirement is an independent risk factor for postoperative Grisel syndrome development in this population.
