Tinea Capitis and Down Syndrome: A Multi-Center Retrospective Cohort Study
This multi-center retrospective study compared tinea capitis (fungal scalp infection) presentation and treatment outcomes in 112 children with Down syndrome versus 1,208 control children. Children with Down syndrome showed higher rates of inflammatory presentations (kerion), different causative organisms, and significantly slower treatment response with lower cure rates at 8 weeks and longer median time to resolution.
