A Qualitative Study Investigating the Barriers and Enablers to Supporting Breastfeeding for Babies with Down Syndrome

This qualitative study examined maternal experiences of breastfeeding babies with Down syndrome through interviews with three mothers, identifying key themes around professional attitudes and emotional support as critical factors. The research highlights gaps in specialist expertise and professional knowledge despite WHO guidelines, revealing mixed outcomes ranging from successful breastfeeding to formula feeding transitions.
