Macrostructural Narrative Development in Chilean Children With Down Syndrome: An Interventional Cross-Case Study
This study examined how narrative macrostructure skills developed in four Chilean children with Down syndrome (ages 8-12) over six months, with a three-week targeted intervention. Children showed modest gains without intervention but significantly greater improvements in overall narrative structure, character development, emotional vocabulary, and temporal markers following the intervention, with stable microstructural measures indicating genuine skill advancement rather than general linguistic development.
