Hypnic Jerks, Major Depressive Disorder, and Antidepressant Use: A Possible Relationship

A case report describes a patient with intensified hypnic jerks (involuntary sleep-wake transition movements) that contributed to major depressive disorder development. While escitalopram improved depression, it paradoxically worsened jerks; clonazepam effectively reduced both symptoms and stabilized the patient's condition.
