Cardiovascular Safety of Atomoxetine and Methylphenidate in ADHD Patients: Japanese Claims Database Study

A large self-controlled case series study in Japan examined cardiac safety of two common ADHD medications in over 27,000 patients. Atomoxetine showed increased arrhythmia risk in the first week and upon re-exposure, while methylphenidate showed no such association; monitoring for arrhythmia is recommended when initiating atomoxetine.
