Attitudes of South Australian psychiatrists towards adult ADHD: barriers to service access

A survey of 73 South Australian psychiatrists identified major barriers to treating adult ADHD, including fear of case overload (68.5%), lack of clinical experience (32.9%), and concerns about drug-seeking behavior (31.5%). The study concludes that increased training and wider psychiatric involvement are needed to improve service accessibility and distribute ADHD treatment workload more equitably.
