Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy: A Promising Tool for Brain Function Mapping in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

StudiuAutismÎncredere bună

This review examines fNIRS as an emerging neuroimaging technique for studying brain connectivity and hemodynamic responses in individuals with autism across different age groups. The article discusses impaired brain regions in ASD (prefrontal cortex, amygdala, mirror neuron systems) and proposes fNIRS as a complementary alternative to fMRI that may overcome technical challenges in imaging awake individuals with autism.
