SNAP-25 Polymorphisms in Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Pilot Study towards a Possible Endophenotype

This pilot study examined associations between SNAP-25 gene polymorphisms and autism severity in 41 children, finding that the GG genotype of rs363050 correlated with lower IQ, more severe autistic functioning, and greater attentional difficulties. The research suggests SNAP-25 variants may represent a biological endophenotype in a subgroup of autistic individuals with severe presentations.
