Spongiotic Gingival Hyperplasia in a Child with Asperger Syndrome: A Case Report

StudiuAutismÎncredere bună

This case report describes the first documented occurrence of spongiotic gingival hyperplasia, a rare gum lesion, in a 14-year-old boy with Asperger syndrome, confirmed through biopsy and immunostaining. The authors note that individuals with autism spectrum disorder may have difficulty maintaining oral hygiene, potentially increasing vulnerability to such lesions if microbiome factors are involved in their pathogenesis.
