A Scoping Review of Tools to Assess Diet in Children and Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder

This scoping review identifies and describes 13 different assessment tools used to evaluate dietary intake and mealtime behavior in autistic children and adolescents, with mealtime behavior being the most frequently assessed variable across 15 included studies. The Brief Assessment Scale for Mealtime Behavior in Children (BAMBI) and 24-hour dietary recalls emerged as the most commonly used assessment instruments in clinical and research settings.
